Pennsylvania did not require the recording of marriages prior to 1885. There are many other pages on this site that compile earlier marriages from church and newspaper records. You can also use the partitioned search engine Marriage category o the Search page of the site to search just marriages. This utility will find marriages that happen to be in the marriage directory. It will not find marriages that are recorded elsewhere, so you'll want to use the Clippings partition also and the Families partition. There are also many included on Heverly that you can locate using the Heverly books partition. You can also check the Bibles section.
