A correspondent of the Elkland Journal says that a goodly number of friends
and relatives assembled at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Kemp, in East
Farmington, on Wednesday, August 31, 1887, to witness the marriage of their
daughter, Satie A., to Mr. Edgar C. Johnson, of West Farmington. At 12:30
the young couple entered the parlor and took their place beneath a floral arch,
when Rev. R. G. Williams, of Nelson, assisted by Rev. F. A. Peterson, of Tioga,
performed the marriage ceremony in a very happy and impressive manner.
After an earnest prayer by Rev. F. A. Peterson, of Tioga, Rev. Mr. Williams
introduced to the company Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, and they received the
heartfelt congratulations of all present. After partaking with their
friends of a bountiful wedding feast, the bride and groom started upon a
short wedding tour, followed by a medley of old slippers, rice, and good
wishes. Numerous presents bespoke the substantial regard of loving
friends, and a noticeable fact was that the gifts chosen were not only
beautiful and valuable but useful as well. May their future be as bright
and fortune as smiling as were the skies on their wedding day..

Last Thursday morning Miss Juliet Eugenia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Hess,
of Williamsport, and Mr. Timothy F. Conway, of this borough, were married at the
Church of the Annunciation in Williamsport. At 9 o’clock, the hour for the
ceremony, the church was filled to overflowing, and many people turned away from
the doors because they could not gain admission. Promptly at the hour of
the wedding party marched up the aisle and took their places at the altar while
the organist was rendering Mendelssohn’s march. Hundreds of tapers were
burning on the altars, the lights forming two hearts above the main altar, and
there was a profusion of flowers. Rev. Father Garvey conducted the
beautiful ceremony of the nuptial mass, and the music was excellent. Miss
Mame Hess, sister of the bride, and Miss Teresa Conway, sister of the groom,
were maids of honor, and Messrs. James E. Burrows, of Williamsport, and Mr. John
E. Houlahan, of Renovo, were the groomsmen. The bride was attired in an
elegant cream plush dress with a court train, veil and orange blossoms, and she
carried a large bouquet of Marschal Niel roses. The bridesmaids wore
handsome costumes of cream-white silk. At 11 o’clock a reception was held
at the home of the bride’s parents, on Lycoming street, where a large number of
friends were present to congratulate the happy couple. The wedding
breakfast was a sumptuous feast. One room was entirely devoted to the
array of handsome and useful presents, and it was overflowing with the piles of
fine linens, embroidery, pictures, beautiful furniture, silverware and
bric-a-brac. Mr. and Mrs. Conway dispensed with the conventional wedding
tour, and after the reception remained at the bride’s home until Saturday, when
they came to this borough. They will reside in the pleasant rooms over the
Conway restaurant. Many friends in this vicinity wish the young couple
