Lisher was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.  Lisher was listed in a directory in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1899.   Nash Elisha L, r 41, dairy 11 cows and farmer, 100 acres In 1850 living with Arad Smith at age 9 while father age 45 living  with Rufus Smith as a laborer. He later married Arad's daughter Louisa who was ten years older than he. She died and he remarried.  See 1900 Rutland Census  See Erma's book page 5 for Golden Wedding Anniversary which includes photograph. Lived on Rutland Hill next to his brother-in-law Emerson Smith who records routine contact in his diary. A reference in one of the Solomon Wood Civil War letters records that Lisher was inducted into the army but sent back along with a couple of other Sullivan Township boys because of health problems. The letter was dated November 1862 and indicates that Elisha was sent back because of a fever sore. David and Amos Welch, and Lorenzo Doud were sent back at the same time based on health problems.  He is, however, listed in the roster on page 236 of 1897 history.
Apparently he went bankrupt since Emerson describes the Sherrif's sale at Lisher's but he attempted to recover and was recorded as making purchases of farm equipment and livestock after that time. The house of Til and Lisher still stands in 1995 but is adandoned and in disrepair and is scheduled to be torn down soon by the present owners who have a trailer next to it.

Elisha Leonard Nash and Matilda Caroline Smith had the following children:

4  iii. Millard Fillmore Nash reference LR 295 (#4093) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 3 JAN 1879.  Individual flags: Photograph.  Millard died ABT 1960 at age unknown.  There is a picture of Millard Nash in Grandma Miller's book. He owned the house my grandmother Miller lived in with Theron Hulslander just below the Elk Run School. Millard had lived in it at the time Joan Nash was in school in Elk Run. He was apparently an "odd ball" of sorts and Joan was teased for being related to him although she is not. He is mentioned frequently in parts of the Emerson Smith diaries since they lived next door to each other and Millard was Emerson's nephew. (Photo at right taken 1941 in front of the house just below the Elk Run School.)

5  iv.  Everett Rexford Nash reference LR 296 (#4094) was born in Rutland Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 15 AUG 1881.  Individual flags: Soc.Sec..  Everett died 13 APR 1978 in Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 96.  His body was interred APR 1978 in Prospect Cemetery, Mansfield, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.   He married Anna E. Mason 14 MAR 1905.  (Anna E. Mason reference SSI)  (Anna E.       6  v.  Harriet Nash reference LR 297 (#7008) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 13 MAR 1884.  Hattie died 1952 at age 68.  She married William Narsh before 1907.  (William Narsh is #11414.)  William was born 20 DEC 1875.  William was the son of Samuel Narsh and Harriet Kent*.  William died 31 JUL 1962 in Horseheads, Chemung County, New York, at age 86.  His body was interred Aug 1962 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, Chemung County, New York.  Narsh is the correct name. It is not a typo. Harriett NASH married William NARSH. William was a storekeeper at Tompkins Corners, Horseheads. He died in Tompkins Corners at age 87. Narsh is a very rare name with few instances in the Social Security Death Index. I believe it is a corruption of Nash, and we have the store records of Elisha Nash who occasionaly signed his name as Narsh. All the people in the SSDI with this name are either from Horseheads, NY or Missouri. Joan found records, I believe in Town of Catlin office, that Harriet died 28 Dec. 1940.Daughters, Bessie, Mabel, Sons, Clare, Elisha, grandchildren John and Janette P???ow, and Geraldine & Jeanette Narsh. For some reason, I have that Clare is William's son from an earlier marriage and therefore a step son, not a son. A note at the side of the paper indicates Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads but there is no indication if it is Harriet or one of her brothers there. Ask Joan for clarification.
7  vi.  Dean Nash reference LR 298 (#4096) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1 NOV 1886.  Dean died in of Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, at age unknown.
