Note: The cover and first few pages of the Bible are missing so there is
no date of publication. However, the Family Portrait section in the
center is marked: "Patented March 8th 1853. Extended and Re-Issued
February 9th 1869, so it must have been purchased after 1869. I presume
that it belonged to Silas Holly, father of James Nelson Holly, my great
grandfather, probably with his second wife, Lucy Wheeler. (Note from JMT
- This is Lucy Canfield - daughter of Betsey Crippen and Moses Canfield,
previously married to Mr. Wheeler. ) All entries appear to be in
the same hand and to have been written at the same time (the ink is the
same) except for Silas Holly's death, the final entry. I have
copied the spelling, capitalization and grammar exactly.

Silas Holly was maried to Lucy Wheeler April the 11th 1869--

Sophia Smith was born Dec= 29th 1820--
William Floid Holly was born may the 16th 1843--
Sarah and susan Holly was born June the 23 r 1844--
Esther Adelia Holly was born march the 30eth 1846--
Sarah Jane Holly was born April the 10th 1849--
James Nelson Holly was born march the 20th 1854--
Ira Edwin Holly was born Jan= the 3d 1859--
DEATHS
Sarah Holly Died August the 15th and Susan Holly Died August the 17th
1844--
Sarah Jane Holly Died February the 25th 1853--
Ira Edwin Holly Died October the 16th 1862--
William Floid Holly Died October the 20th 1864-- (note: Mary Fox says
he died in the Civil War)
Sophia Holly Died December the 11th 1868
Silas holly Died December 16th 1902.
