Note: The cover and first few pages of the Bible are missing so there is no date of publication.  However, the Family Portrait section in the center is marked: "Patented March 8th 1853.  Extended and Re-Issued February 9th 1869, so it must have been purchased after 1869.  I presume that it belonged to Silas Holly, father of James Nelson Holly, my great grandfather, probably with his second wife, Lucy Wheeler. (Note from JMT - This is Lucy Canfield - daughter of Betsey Crippen and Moses Canfield, previously married to Mr. Wheeler. )  All entries appear to be in the same hand and to have been written at the same time (the ink is the same)  except for Silas Holly's death, the final entry.  I have copied the spelling, capitalization and grammar exactly.
