Joyce's Search Tip - December 2007 -
|
Do You Know that you can search just the
Bradford County Cemetery Records on the site by using the Cemeteries
-Bradford button in the Partitioned search engine at the bottom of the
Current What's New Page? If
you use that partition follow these steps to search just one cemetery.
1. Choose Cemeteries - Bradford.
2. Enter part of the cemetery name [ie Ballard or Berrytown] AND a surname.
3. Choose the Find ALL Words option. Then it will find just the pages
with that surname in the one cemetery you indicated.

To find Hillside Cem. go to Wellsburg, NY and go south
8.7 miles on Bentley Creek Rd. Turn right on the road that says to Big
Pond for 1.6 miles and cemetery is on your left on the hill. From Springfield,
take the Big Pond Road just west of the Harkness Cemetery.
All stones in the cemetery were read and copied by
Sharon and Chrissy Nichols and typed by Stacy Nichols Jan. 1999

Dear Joyce, Having had responsibility of a church web site at one time,
I appreciate the time and work which has gone into your web site. I came
across it by accident and have spent many hours browsing it. I can add
a little to the Big Pond Cemetery. Gaylord, Bryce and Bettie Jean Fay were
all children of Howard and Margie Fay. Bettie Jean died when crushed by
logs which had been piled in the Fay's front yard. It was in February when
school was not in session because of the holiday. The logs had been frozen
together by the snow and frost. It was one of those rare warm days and
the children were playing on the pile of logs. When the frost and snow
which held the logs together started to soften, the logs started to roll
and Bettie Jean was caught under them and crushed.
Margie Fay and Mattie Grace were twin sisters and daughters of one of
the Smiths, but I am not sure which one.

If you are not navigating this
Tri-Counties Site via the left and right sidebars of the
Current What's New page you
are doing yourself a disservice. You can get to any place on the
site easily by making yourself familiar with these subject and
place topics. Try them all to be as familiar with the site's
16,000 plus pages as you can. Stop groping in the dark and take
the lighted path. That's also the only way you'll find the
search engines for the site or have access to the necessary
messages I may leave for you. Make it easy on
yourself. |
