Hammond Elisha 1792 1859 (Staver record,1932 states he was born in Ulster County, N.Y., Jan. 24, 1792, and died Feb. 26, 1859 served in the war of 1812. Undoubtedly the data is from an original tombstone which has since been replaced by a second marker.
He is credited as being among the early settlers of what became the Town of Baldwin in April, 1856.)
Hammond Maria 1799 1865 (Staver record, 1932 states she died on Mar. 9, 1865, age 66y8m22d. The data most likely is from the original tombstone which was replaced with a second marker. She is probably the wife of Elisha Hammond as the tombstone stands next to his.
If her actual age is correct, she was born on Jun. 15, 1798 and not in 1799 as the tombstone states)

Emigrated to Chemung in 1819. Pursued farming the remainder of his life. Died Mar. 31, 1862, age 71y2m17d.
Little Abigail Smith Aug. 7, 1795 Feb. 3, 1875 Daughter of John and Susan Smith, granddaughter of John and Margaret Smith and John and Hannah Smith and wife of Levi Little. Born Aug. 7, 1795 in the Town of Monroe, Orange County, New York where she presided over her father's house for 4 years.
Was married May 11, 1816. Was a wife 40 years and mother of 8 sons and 1 daughter. Was a widow 13 years and housekeeper 63 years, and on the morning of Feb. 3, 1875 died while asleep of paralysis of the heart in her 80th year where she lived 55 years,
but her spirit had not grown old for she was genial in life and majestic in death. Not dead, but removed.
