SUTTON or JOSLIN, Amanda
a.k.a. Amanda Tice - Amanda was born in1818 in Connecticut of unknown parents.
Even her death certificate, of which I have a copy, does not reveal her
parentage or real surname. Sutton is generally assumed to be her surname
but other possibilities are Joslin or Livingston. She married Philip TICE
in Chemung County and they moved to Pumpkin Hill in Rutland Township. She
was the mother of Solomon M., Henry M., Sarah, Oliver, Catharine, Lois,
Emma, Philip, Letitia, and Harvey. She died in Wells Townhsip 23 JAN 1894
at the home of a daughter and is buried in the Pumpkin Hilll Cemetery.
She is great great grandmother of Joyce M. Tice (Joyce M. Tice, Leslie
M. Tice, Lee D. Tice, Harvey L. Tice, Amanda Sutton) Submitted by Joyce

TICE, Philip
- Phil Tice, son of Huldah VanGORDER and Heinrich (Henry) TICE of Chemung
was born about 1810. He married Amanda SUTTON and moved to Rutland Township.
Family stories indicate that he died falling from his horse jumping a fence,
but the death certificate does not indicate that. He died at Pumpkin Hill
in 1872, The road now called Dunkelberger Road in Rutland was formerly
Tice Road named for Phil. He was great great grandfather of Joyce M. Tice
(Joyce M. Tice, Leslie M. Tice, Lee D. Tice, Harvey L. Tice, Philip Tice)
